A standard, comprehensive ProtaStructure training outline is divided into three main phases:

Phase 1: Project Setup and 3D Modeling

This phase focuses on defining the physical layout of your building.

  • User Interface & Settings: Learn to navigate the dashboard and set project templates.
  • Grid Layouts: Insert structural axes and grids manually.
  • CAD Integration: Import architectural DXF files as reference drawings.
  • Storey Definitions: Add, replicate, and edit building storeys and floor heights.
  • Member Modeling: Draw columns, beams, slabs, and shear walls based on structural needs.

Phase 2: Loading, Analysis, and Design

This phase focuses on the structural physics, load paths, and safety.

  • Loading Setup: Apply dead, live, wind, and seismic loads. Learn to edit Load combinations.
  • Load Decomposition: Use FE (Finite Element) methods to distribute slab loads onto beams.
  • Analysis: Run the Building Analysis to check for building sway (drift) and column/beam adequacy.
  • Model Check: Scan for and fix modeling errors and warning messages.
  • Foundation Design: Design pad bases, strip foundations, or pile caps based on soil reports.

Phase 3: Detailing and Documentation

This phase covers turning your safe model into actual blueprints for construction.

  • Prota Details: Export the analyzed model to Prota Details.
  • Formwork Plans: Generate and edit general arrangement and formwork plans.
  • Schedules & Elevations: Create automatic beam and column elevation details, plus rebar schedules.
  • Drawing Management: Scale drawings, apply standard title blocks, and export to AutoCAD (DWG/DXF) for printing.
